I also stick a lot of flowers in with everything.

I will admit though that the first year I grew everything here I completely interplanted and my harvest wasn't as good. I do think I fooled many of the pests, though! Now, well, now I just try to do a bit of both.

As for Three Sisters, there are many different kinds of pole beans traditionally grown for this treatment sold by Southern Exposure, so check 'em out. Also check out SMAC for even more southern/mountain heirlooms:
http://www.heirlooms.org/index.html
I have done Three Sisters with popcorn, Rattlesnake Pole beans and whatever squash came up; of the three the pole beans were the least successful.elhttp://fastgrowtheweeds.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868856291902994549.post-22409139689814522282009-06-02T12:40:37.997-04:002009-06-02T12:40:37.997-04:00Hi Daphne!

Maybe it's the particular bean variety I grow.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's been successful with a 3 sisters planting and hasn't had the choking problem. What varieties are you planting? How are you timing the plantings?

Keep me up to date with how yours goes, Daphne!Milkweedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08358496166576984299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868856291902994549.post-72918214180862238332009-06-02T12:14:39.796-04:002009-06-02T12:14:39.796-04:00I'm doing a traditional three sister's garden this...I'm doing a traditional three sister's garden this year. I hope I don't have issues with my corn being overwhelmed. I does worry me a little. I tried to pick a corn that was tall and quick.Daphnehttp://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
